Here is a cute video of dogs in their costumes…

Man’s best friend – the dog.  Dogs have been around for thousands of years.  Dogs are used for a variety of projects.  There are dogs that herd livestock, dogs that hunt, dogs that are service dogs such as seeing eye dogs and dogs that do police work.  There are show dogs, competition dogs, dogs that race and just good ole dogs that make  great companions.  They make great guard animals as they are very protective of their owners.

Dogs have great hearing and can detect sounds that people can’t hear.  Having a dog or cat can reduce stress in the person that owns them.

I had a dog that loved to climb trees.  He would beat me up the tree every time!  There are many types or breeds of dogs and there is sure to be one for you.

Let’s look at the dachshund.  The dachshund is originally from Germany and was bred as a hunting dog. It was trained to hunt badgers and other burrow-dwelling animals, such as rabbits and prairie dogs.  Most dachshunds are very stubborn, thus to train them is very challenging.  Their bark is loud and obnoxious so if they are not trained properly they will become a nuisance with their constant barking.
